A woman makes thousands of dollars as a bottle girl – but it comes at a cost.
Taylor Blair, 26, brings in four figures every month from her job, but her dating life has suffered as a result.
Blair told Caters News that her waitressing has damaged her reputation as many “assume the worst” when she talks about what she does for work.
“If you don’t have the safest, most understanding, most understanding boyfriend, literally good luck,” said Blair, of Scottsdale, Arizona.
“I see it so often with my ex and even with girls who still have boyfriends,” she added. “The second you get into a fight; he will use your work against you.”
Part of the job requires Blair to dress in revealing clothing while serving drinks to men at a club, as well as traveling to other locations to help promote clubs similar to the one she works at.
“You get very entitled people and a lot of them have money and so they just think they can do and say whatever,” Blair said. “The perception of you will not be good. The second you tell them you’re a bottle girl, they’ll just assume the worst.”
“Dating is hard and it’s just overwhelming. Like it’s not normal to be in the club every weekend from Thursday to Sunday, so it’s very tiring,” she said.
As well as meeting and being judged by potential partners, Blair said there are “a lot of downsides to this job” – including having to load up on energy drinks in order to keep working through the night.
“Not getting home until 3 in the morning and not sleeping until 3:30 is just crazy. “My place also goes out, and we have to go during the week to different places and just sit there,” she said. “During the week I don’t want to talk to me, I don’t want to leave my house, I don’t want to be 100 meters from a club, but you have to do it.”
Despite work setbacks affecting her personal life, Blair is taking advantage of her, siphoning off her earnings and the hefty tips she receives.
Blair’s income is not consistent and week after week is never the same, but she still brings home more than many do in a month.
From just one 12-hour work week, Blair brought home $1,691.74. The next week she worked fewer hours but made more money, bringing home $2,676.03.
“I say this all the time whenever you talk about this job and talk about money is that it’s not always like that. I try to repeat this,” she said. “I have months where I do a lot better than that and I have months where I don’t even do a third of that, so it’s not consistent, it’s very up and down.”
